On Wednesday, 7pm, March 19 at the Norfolk Arena, a King’s Lynn Select team will host iconic Polish team Zielona Gora in the first ever International Pre-Season Cup.
Some of the world biggest stars will be on show for the meeting that is being promoted by Team Player Management Company.
King’s Lynn promoter Keith Chapman commented: “I can’t wait for this fixture, it is great to be able to have such a huge meeting at the Norfolk Arena. We have been working with Team Player Management Company for weeks now and they have been fantastic to deal with.
“The meeting deserves a huge crowd and I hope our supporters turn out in force and get behind our team. Zielona Gora are a strong team, but we want to start the season with a win.”
The King’s Lynn Select side will feature six of the current Stars side. Danish trio Niels-Kristian Iversen, Kenneth Bjerre and Nicklas Porsing will be joined by Rory Schlein in the mainbody of the team. Reserve pairing Lewis Kerr and Lewis Rose will also feature, with the final ‘special’ member to be confirmed later in the week.
Stars number one Niels-Kristian Iversen is looking forward to the meeting and has praised the organisers for bringing something different to British Speedway. He said: “I know all about Zielona Gora, I spent four seasons with them before moving to their rivals Gorzow in 2011. It is always nice to ride against them, and it is going to be good to beat them.
“It is brilliant that Team Player Management Company has arranged this. If we can attract some interest from the speedway world, these challenge meetings can help the riders. We get another meeting and it is a real test. It’s not like we are racing a team from the same league, it is something different and a real test.
“For the Lynn fans it is exciting, they don’t get to see riders like Jaroslaw Hampel, Andreas Jonsson or Piotr Protasiewicz that often so for them to be at their home track it is something special.”
The Zielona Gora team is made up of some well know riders including World Number two Jaroslaw Hampel, Swedish GP star Andreas Jonsson and Polish international Piotr Protasiewicz. Current World U21 Champion Patryk Dudek will make the trip over to the UK which will give British supporters a chance to see some of the biggest stars of international speedway.
