New Belle Vue Aces signing Adam Shields has made the number one race jacket his target for this season.
Shields joined the Aces over the winter after spending last four seasons with the Lakeside Hammers, the move north gives him a chance to put an injury-hit season behind him and improve on his starting average of 6.70.
The Polish based racer will link up with fellow Australians Rory Schlein, Travis McGowan and Josh Grajczonek this season and he is aiming to become the clubs top averaged rider.
He told menmedia.co.uk: “I’m looking forward to riding with Rory and Travis. I know them well but I haven’t had so much to do with Josh."
“I was already well established when Rory came along so I’ll be after his No 1 place in the team. He’ll be very proud of having that No 1 race jacket but it is my target to wear it at some stage of the season."
“I’ll be working on trying to get my average near the nine-point mark in England and I will be hoping to have double- figure scores in the Swedish League. I’ve been at that level before and I feel I can do it again.”
