Drury Working On Riding Order

birmigham 12Birmingham Brummies boss Graham Drury has revealed that he may have to change his riding order to work around the new tactical ride rule.

The rule introduced at the AGM in November last year states that a team can only use a tactical ride between heats 4 though to 12. For Birmingham, Bjarne Pedersen will take the number one race jacket due to him having the highest average.

The next four averaged riders can slot into any position in the main body of the team, before the rule came into force it was likely that winter signing Sebastian Ulamek would have been at five in the team, but Drury may put him at three in order for him to ride in heat 12.

Drury told the birminghammail.net: “Under previous rules it was always good to have two star riders in the 13th race in case we could use a tactical ride for double points when chasing a meeting. But now I may opt to do things in a different way with the riding order and the tactics we use."

“It could mean putting Ulamek at three because he would be in Heat 12, but we shall have to wait and see what the riders think about it too. I’d like to keep Ben Barker and Danny King together if possible but I won’t be afraid to split them up if I have to because of these new regulations over the tactical ride rule.”
