Rosco Backing Stead

simonsteadbanner srSwindon manager Alun Rossiter is tipping Simon Stead to regain top form for the Robins this season.

The British International suffered from injuries at the start of last season and when he did make a return to racing his form dipped, by the end of the year he had lost a point off his average.

The Robins recalled Stead back for another season at the Abbey Stadium but opted not to give him the captaincy, instead that went to winter signing Hans Andersen.

Team manager Alun Rossiter believes that removing the captaincy from Stead will allow him to concentrate on himself and get back to the form he once showed.

Rossiter was quoted on the swindonadvertiser.co.uk as saying: “Simon is personally hugely popular, but critics point to poor away scoring.

"It doesn’t worry me, we can deal with the psychology of that. I know his ability and I know that he has ridden all of the tracks very well at one time or another.

“I have taken the pressure of the captaincy away from him because he needs to concentrate on himself. He can do that with much less pressure this year with Hans and Troy Batchelor on board, and I think with better support riders around him.”
