Rae Looking Forward To Getting Underway

Berwick team boss Ian Rae says he is looking forward to starting the Premier League season and rates the clubs chances of a title win.

The Bandits faced an uncertain future over the winter but pressed on with team plans, and their full team was confirmed last December.

Experienced premier league rider Ricky Ashworth will once again lead the team and he will be joined by Kozza Smith, Robin Aspegren, Matthew Wethers, David Bellego along with reserves Nicki Barrett and Alex Edberg.

“The team has a nice feel about it,” said Rae to berwickshirenews.co.uk, “and I am confident that if we steer clear of injury we have as good a chance as anyone else.

“Ricky Ashworth is expected to be our number one rider. He is coming back from a broken shoulder at the end of last season, but I have no doubt that once again he will be one of the top riders in the Premier League.

“We are not too top heavy, but there are other riders in the side who can be big hitters on their day, and in any meeting there is a chance that our top scorer could come from any five or six.

“Not many sides can say that, which is why I am looking forward to the season so much."
