Italian international Nicolas Covatti returns as the Italian FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card for the second straight season when he lines up against the world’s biggest stars at Terenzano on August 3.
Covatti made his World Championship bow at the Motoclub Olimpia last year and picked up three points in an all-action and fearless performance.
The Argentina-born racer rides at reserve for British Elite League side Birmingham and has played a big role in their push for the play-offs. He also races for Motoclub La Favorita near Vicenza in Italy.
The 25-year-old wears the famous SGP No.16 race jacket for the biggest event in the Italian season.
Covatti is joined in the field by track reserves Nicolas Vicentin and Michele Paco Castagna, who also served as stand-in riders in 2012.
Lonigo racer Vicentin lines up at No.17, while Castagna – son of Italy’s greatest speedway rider Armando Castagna – is No.18.
The referee for the Terenzano round is Jim Lawrence from Great Britain.
