Eastbourne's number one Bjarne Pedersen has admitted that he pulled out of the second indoor meeting to save himself from possible injury.
Pedersen won the first of the two events in his native Denmark last Friday but pulled out of the second on Saturday after seeing his fellow riders cash in many of the heats and he didn't want to jeopardise his season for Eastbourne.
The former Poole rider said to theargus.co.uk: “It was the first time the people there had organised the event and the whole show was perfect apart from the track, which wasn’t good enough."
“We got the meeting done on Friday but there were a lot of accidents and restarts. That was why I turned it down on Saturday. There were about 19 crashes on Friday in 23 races."
"When I looked at the programme there were only two riders who didn’t fall at all and they were me and Kenneth Bjerre. There was a worry I would get injured so I pulled out."
