Emil Sayfutdinov has sensationally pulled out of the Speedway World Cup after doctors told him to rest his broken foot.
The Russian, who leads the world championship series rode with a broken metatarsal on Saturday night at the Danish round of this years series. Sayfutdinov sustained the injury on June 24 riding for Czestochowa against Gorzow.
Despite finishing fifth in Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium, Sayfutdinov has been told that he needs to rest for three weeks in order for the foot to heal properly. The time frame rules him out of the World Cup where he was set to play a key role for Russia.
“Doctors viewed my foot and recommended a longer break. If continued riding with the injury, it could end badly. I need time to let the bone heal. I hope to be back on track July 21. – Emil said on his website.
