Poland, Denmark and Australia have all kept faith with the teams that earned them their places in the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup Final at Prague’s Marketa Stadium on Saturday.
Favourites Poland are skippered by former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel and he is joined by his SGP rival Krzysztof Kasprzak, 2011 FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Maciej Janowski and the current World Under-21 Final leader Patryk Dudek.
Monster Energy SWC holders Denmark are led by triple world champion Nicki Pedersen and captain Niels-Kristian Iversen. Current World Under-21 champion Michael Jepsen Jensen joins them.
Final pick Kenneth Bjerre is the only member of the quartet who didn’t appear in Denmark’s gold medal success at Malilla last summer. He is seeking to add to the SWC title he claimed at Vojens in 2008.
Race Off winners Australia stick with SGP sensation Darcy Ward and captain Troy Batchelor. Jason Doyle and Cameron Woodward ride in their first Monster Energy SWC Finals.
The Czech Republic enter the competition in the last four as hosts and are led by national speedway legends, former SGP racers Ales and Lukas Dryml.
Prague favourite Josef ‘Pepe’ Franc gets the nod on the Marketa circuit where he reached the Czech SGP semi-finals on May 12, 2012, when his lightening clutch hand saw him beat Jason Crump, Greg Hancock and Tomasz Gollob in an unforgettable heat 15.
FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship finalist Vaclav Milik completes the line-up. The Pardubice star is making fantastic progress on the shale and has earned a place in the GP Challenge at Poole on August 24, where the top three win full-time SGP spots for 2014.
